Militant associate arrested in Awantipora: Police

Jammu and Kashmir police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested a Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militant associate in Awantipora.

According to a statement issued to the news agency, a police spokesman said that the militant associate was arrested by police along with security forces.

The arrested militant associate has been identified as Sahil Farooq Mir of Chakoora Pulwama.

“As per the police records, he was involved in providing shelter, logistics and other support to the LeT militants, besides he was also involved in transporting arms/ ammunition to the militants operating in Tral, Kakpora, Khrew and Awantipora areas,” police spokesman said.

He said incriminating material including explosive material and ammunition has been recovered from him in Noorpora area, adding that accordingly, a case under FIR number 92/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Awantipora and further investigation has been initiated –(KNO)
