A local militant reportedly of the Jaish outfit was killed in a gunfight with security forces at Baragam area of Awantipora area in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Sunday morning.

“AwantiporaEncounterUpdate: 01 unidentified millitant killed. #Operation going on. Further details shall follow, ” a police spokesman said.

Quoting a top police officer, news agency reported that the slain JeM militant has been identified as Sameer Ahmad Tantray, a local from Bargam Awantipora.

He had joined JeM outfit on 2nd November of this year and was under C- category, the officer added. ( GNS )
