Srinagar, Jan 12: Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Monday expressed deep sorrow over the demise of Pandit Bhushan Bazaz, the son of noted Kashmiri intellectual, writer and political thinker Pandit Prem Nath Bazaz.
Mirwaiz described Bhushan Bazaz as “a true upholder of Kashmiri ethics,” recalling his warmth and personal bond with the Mirwaiz family. “His sincere love, warmth and affection will always stay with me,” Mirwaiz said, calling his passing a major personal loss.
In a condolence message posted on X, Mirwaiz wrote: “Deeply saddened by the passing of Pandit Bhushan Bazaz, son of legendary Pandit Prem Nath Bazaz. A dear friend of my father, Bhushan Uncle was a father-like presence in my life… His passing is a great personal loss to me and the family. My deepest condolences to his son Kalhan and the Bazaz family.”
Prem Nath Bazaz is remembered as a prominent Kashmiri intellectual and political commentator known for his writings on Kashmir’s social and political history.
