More Food Processing Industries to be allowed to operate under the revised guidelines: Commissioner, J&K Industries and Commerce Department

JAMMU, 21 April 2020: Mr Manoj Kumar Dwivedi, Commissioner/Secretary to Govt, Industries and Commerce Department, Govt of J&K, today said that basis the guidelines issued by MHA, many industries in J&K have been allowed to operate and soon more food processing industries will be allowed which qualify as per the revised guidelines.

Addressing FICCI webinar on ‘Strategies to Analyze the Situation and Economic Revival for the Industries in J&K’, Mr Dwivedi said that the orders to operate industries qualifying under revised guidelines will be issued by tomorrow.

Highlighting the SOPs and guidelines issued by the government, Mr Dwivedi said, “We have to maintain supply lines especially of essential commodities and to keep the machinery working.”

He added that the government has constituted a task force to look into agriculture, horticulture and other areas as well. Whatever is in the preview of the state government, it will be worked upon. “We will also be looking into the demands of the industries like seeking some kind of refunds, pending payments, waiver in the electricity bills,” added Mr Dwivedi.

Mr Lalit Mahajan, President, Bari Brahmana Industries Association and Chairman Federation of Industries Jammu requested the J&K bank and RBI to increase working capital margin from 25% to 15%. He added that bank interests of March and April should be exempted by the government along with removing interest on term loans.

Mr Gagan Jain, General Secretary, Birpur Small Scale Industries Association stressed upon the need to include some of the food factories which were not mentioned in the SOPs, released yesterday.

Mr Sheikh Aashiq, President, Kashmir Chamber of Commerce said, “For revival of business, we need a comprehensive package, both from the state as well as the central government.”

Mr Gaurav Gupta, representative from Chamber of Commerce Jammu moderated the session.
