MoS I&C Dept visits Govt Silk Weaving Factory Rajbagh

Union Minister of State (MoS) in the Ministry of Industry & Commerce, Som Parkash on Thursday visited the Government Silk Weaving Factory at Rajbagh, Srinagar to take stock of the various activities in the unit.

The minister was accompanied by Director Industries and other senior officers. A handout said that during the visit, the minister was briefed about the various measures being undertaken by the government to bring about the revival of silk sector and the role of the unit in contributing to the promotion of silk products.

The minister also visited the factory showroom showcasing a wide variety of silk products. The minister while admiring the quality and variety of the silk products, emphasized that efforts need to be focused on greater promotion of silk products to further improve sales which would lead to greater demand and consequently generate employment and contribute to local economy.
