Nearly 11 months after the ‘Free Kashmir placard’ row, the Mumbai police has decide to drop charges against the girl who was seen holding them.

In January this year, images and videos of the woman holding up a large poster with the words ‘Free Kashmir’ written in big bold letters during a protest against the JNU violence at Gateway of India had gone viral.

Following that, a huge war of words had erupted among the ruling Maha Vikas Aghadi and Opposition BJP.

However, now the Mumbai Police has file ‘C Summary’ report in the case registered against Mahek Mirza Prabhu, a Mumbai-based writer.

The police have reportedly said that no malicious motive was found.

After the row, BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis launched an attack on Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray asking how can we tolerate such separatist elements in Mumbai.

However, the woman had issued a video statement and clarified that she was talking about the internet ban in the valley and the narrative that has been put out about the situation is misinterpreted.

She had also said that her only intention was that we should offer peace since the people of Kashmir had lost their basic rights for months due to the internet shutdown. (Mumbai Mirror)
