Bollywood actor Rishi Kapoor passed away on Thursday morning after fighting a long battle with cancer. His brother Randhir Kapoor confirmed the news. An official statement released by the actor’s family, which stated that he “passed away peacefully at 8:45 am IST in hospital today after a two-year battle with leukemia.”
Amid the nationwide lockdown, Mumbai Police has requested the Rishi Kapoor’s family not to take his mortal remains home and perform the last rites directly at the crematorium from the hospital. The veteran actor’s funeral will be held near the hospital at Marine Lines Chandanwadi.
Meanwhile, Alia Bhatt was seen arriving at the hospital a while ago. As per reports, Rishi’s wife Neetu and brother Randhir were there in the hospital when the veteran actor breathed his last.
In September 2018, Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh took off to New York and the veteran actor underwent treatment for cancer close to a year.In February, Kapoor was hospitalised twice due to his health issues.He was first admitted to a hospital in Delhi where he was attending a family function. At the time, Kapoor had said that he was suffering from an “infection”. After his return to Mumbai, he was again admitted to a hospital with viral fever. He was discharged soon after. ( TOI )
