My name is Iqra Zainab, a 26-year-old Master’s student in Commerce at Kashmir University. Today, I am delighted to share my journey into the world of baking—a journey that began on May 5, 2021, and has since transformed my life in ways I could have never imagined.
Initially, baking was just a way to unwind from the rigors of academic life. Little did I know that this pastime would turn into a passion that would consume my heart and soul. My first baking attempt—a humble vanilla sponge cake—was a pivotal moment. The joy on my family’s faces as they savored that modest creation filled me with a sense of fulfillment I had never experienced before.
From that day, I began exploring the world of baking with enthusiasm and curiosity. I experimented with cookies, pastries, and a variety of desserts, learning through trial and error. My family became my greatest supporters, encouraging me with their kind words and honest feedback. Their trust in my abilities motivated me to step out of my comfort zone and try more intricate recipes.
As I progressed, I discovered that baking is not just about following recipes; it is an intricate art that requires creativity, patience, and dedication. I became fascinated by the science behind baking—how each ingredient interacts to create flavors and textures—and the endless possibilities of artistic presentation. What made my journey even more special was incorporating traditional Kashmiri flavors into my creations.
