Express condolences with the bereaved family
Srinagar, October 18 ,2017
National Conference Wednesday condemned the brutal killing of a former Sarpanch and PDP worker Mohammad Ramzan Sheikh of Imambara Shopian.
Expressing condolences with the bereaved family party Chief Spokesperson Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi said, “National Conference stands in solidarity with the family of the slain Sarpanch in this moment of inconsolable grief. Mohammad Ramzan Sheikh was a common unarmed Kashmiri. His killing brings back the memories of hundreds of brutal murders of political workers in Kashmir over the past three decades.”
Reiterating that the killers be brought to book Ruhullah said, “Killing people on the basis of political orientation and ideology is a highly deplorable act and our party condemns it unequivocally. In the past hundreds of our workers have been targeted by known and unknown agencies. The atmosphere of fear has engulfed the whole region and no one either from the administration or the police seems to have a clue about how to tackle it. The recent spree of braid chopping has taken a heavy toll on the Kashmiri psyche but curiously government has not been able to crack any of such cases yet.”
Ridiculing the police and the administration for their abject failure in providing security to the bereaved family Chief Spokesperson said, “Our heart goes out to the family of Late Mohammad Ramzan Sheikh who not only lost a precious member but were subjected to the trauma of losing their house and property.”
“It’s sad that now even simple law and order situations are not handled by police anymore. CM Mehbooba Mufti who happens to be states home minister as well seems to have forgotten her responsibility which is to ensure protection of the lives and property of the state subjects. Clearly she has failed to do so,” the chief Spokesperson said adding, “The PDP-BJP government and especially Chief Minister should therefore acknowledge their shameful role in bringing Jammu and Kashmir to this situation and take moral responsibility for the continuously deteriorating situation in the state.”
Alleging that the state police has failed on all fronts in Kashmir he said, “Has the Police department given up its main responsibility which is to maintain law and order? Where were they at the time when Sheikhs house was burnt down or are they expecting security forces to handle miscreants and nefarious elements of the society?”
