Literacy Club of Government Degree College Ramgarh today initiated the ‘National Road Safety Month’ campaign in the College by organizing an Essay Writing Competition for the students on ‘Importance of Traffic Rules for Road Safety’.
The event was held under the guidance and supervision of the College Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Geetanjali Andotra.
At the outset, she addressed the students about the objective of the competition. She said that the aim of this competition was to raise awareness and educate the youth about the danger and risks of reckless or irresponsible driving and the youth should drive carefully keeping their life and lives of the people around them safe. She also educated the students and counselled them to follow traffic rules and regulations for their safety. The competition was coordinated by the Convener of Literary Club, GDC, Ramgarh, Prof.(Dr.) Snobar, HOD, Punjabi.
A total number of 15 students participated in the event with great zeal, and expressed their views on road safety awareness, traffic safety rules, traffic jam problems, etc. The essays were written in multiple languages such as English, Hindi and Punjabi. The assessment was also done by Dr. Aditi Khajuria, Sonali Dutta and Priya Sharma. The essays by Jagmeet Kour from semester 4th, Priya Rajkumari from semester and Tanu Hans from semester 6th were selected as the best three.
