Srinagar, Oct 28: Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma on Wednesday claimed that the National Conference was facing an internal split, asserting that the party’s discontent would eventually lead to its breakup and the collapse of the government.

Reacting to protests following the oath-taking ceremony, Sharma said a section of the party was opposing dynastic politics.

“There is a discontented group within the party that has consistently been demanding that family rule will no longer continue. Dynasty will no longer continue,” he said.

“I said that a split has already taken place within them. The party will also split, and the government will also fall,” Sharma added.

He denied allegations that the BJP had approached NC MLAs to explore government formation.

“When I am telling you that the BJP will not form the government, why would we approach anyone? What is the need for us to approach them? This is their own fight. Why should we jump into it?” he said.

Sharma also criticised NC president Farooq Abdullah over his remarks concerning Pakistan, accusing the Abdullah family of supporting Pakistan and demanding action by investigating agencies.

“Anyone, regardless of age, whether young or old, who makes such statements against the country should face action. Farooq Abdullah should also face action,” he said.
