Srinagar, Publish Date: Dec 18 2017

National Conference (NC) on Monday took out a march against the killing of a driver in Kupwara and power woes in the Kashmir valley.
Hundreds of NC workers led by General Secretary and MLA Khanyar Ali Muhammad Sagar took out a march from the Nawa-e-Subh party headquarters and headed towards Lal Chowk in Srinagar.
The protesters were carrying banners carrying messages like “Stop civilian killings”, “Stop RSS agenda” and “Provide basic facilities to people”.
They termed the government probe into the killing of Kupwara driver as an “eye-wash”.
“Probes ordered in the past have yielded nothing,” they said.
Asif Iqbal, a cab driver, was killed in army firing in Thandipora village of Kupwara district late Saturday night, locals said. However, army said that he was killed in “cross-firing” with militants during an ambush.
The NC members also took a dig at the government for failing to provide basic necessities, including electricity, to people in the Valley.
The protesters were carrying lanters to symbolize the power woes.
