Opposition National Conference on Thursday staged a protest in Anantnag town of south Kashmir urging the government to restore power supply and rollback the “unjustified” increase in the electricity bills.
Raising anti-government slogans, the party office bearers and activists of Anantnag district held the protest near Dak Banglow in the town for nearly two hours.
A spokesman of the party said the PDP-BJP government has failed on all fronts and was not able to provide basic facilities to the population in the state, especially in Kashmir valley.
He said the entire valley has been plunged into darkness as the government is not taking steps to restore power supply.
A protester, Ghulam Mohammad Shah, said the government is playing a joke on the residents of the town.
“We have not suffered such acute shortage of power during the past 70 years. Alternate arrangements like inverters have become defunct because we don’t receive constant power supply for even an hour,” he said.
