Srinagar, 17 Feb : The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference has welcomed the re-opening of 17 tourist destinations across J&K saying the move will give a big boost to tourism activities across J&K.

Terming the decision as both timely and necessary, State Spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar said that restoring access to these picturesque destinations will significantly boost tourist footfall during the upcoming summer and early autumn seasons, traditionally the most vibrant periods for tourism in Jammu and Kashmir.

Thanking HCM Omar Abdullah who raised the closure of these important spots at multiple forums, Imran said, “After Omar Sb raised the issue with Hon’ble Home Minister, the decision regarding opening of these spots was taken subsequently by the concerned authorities.

He further added, “By reopening these locations, the government has sent a positive signal to travelers across the country and abroad that Jammu and Kashmir remains safe, welcoming and ready to host visitors.”

He urged the administration to complement this move by opening other tourist spots also including Aharbal in Kulgam district.

“Tourism is the lifeline of our people. Every step that strengthens it strengthens the economic stability and dignity of our citizens,” Imran said. (KNS)
