Srinagar, Sep 17: The Jammu & Kashmir National Health Mission Employees Association (JKNHMEA), Joint Coordination Committee on behalf of the NHM employees of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir on Thursday extended its ongoing peaceful strike for a further period of 72 hours, commencing from September 18, 2026, across Jammu and Kashmir.
In a communication, the Association said that the extension has been necessitated due to the continued pendency of the Association’s long-standing and legitimate demands and the absence of a concrete, time-bound resolution to the issues raised before the competent authorities.
The Association reiterated that the protest/strike shall remain completely peaceful, democratic and constitutional, and all participating employees shall maintain discipline and uphold public order.
The Association remains committed to dialogue and constructive engagement and sincerely hopes that the government will initiate meaningful and time-bound measures for resolution of the genuine grievances of NHM employees, the communication reads.
