Employees of the National Health Mission (NHM), RNTCP, NACO & other Schemes of Health Services staged a protest here in Pratap Park Lal Chowk against the government on Thursday for neglecting their demand of regularisation.
Hundreds of employees from different districts, including doctors, paramedical staff, and technicians of the health department who are working on a contractual basis under National Health Mission reached Srinagar Lal Chowk, shouting slogans of justice, demanding their regularization.
The protesting employees demanded that they should also be included in the recent list of 60, 000 employees who are to be regularized.
Pertinently Jammu and Kashmir government on Wednesday announced that it will regularize 60,000 daily wagers and casual labourers.
However, NHM employees did not figure in the said list, a protester claimed.
Joint Employees Coordination Committee of NHM starts 72-hour protest from Dec 20, against the government due to this the Health Services have got affected to a large extent with people facing a lot of inconvenience in the rural and urban areas of Kashmir as far as patient care is concerned.
The employees toughened their stand of the protest programme as more and more services are being brought into the ambit of the strike which had been exempted earlier.
While talking to reporters, Spokesman of the Joint Employees Coordination Committee Abdul Rauoof said that “we have approached the government and all concerned departments/agencies over last more than 06 years for framing a policy of regularization of our employees but unfortunately till date, none of our genuine demands has been conceded.”
Abdul Rauoof further said: “We welcome the intentions/statement of our Hon’ble Health Minister Shri Bali Bagaht Ji which he has posted on his face-book page yesterday pertaining to our demand for regularisation. Our demands have been acknowledged many times by the concerned higher authorities, but nothing substantial / concrete measures have been taken place till date”.
“Keeping in view the above facts, the Joint Employees Coordination Committee of NHM, RNTCP, NACO & Other Schemes have decided that till the Government does not come out with a roadmap / written proposal of our regularisation of services, we will not call off our strike. It is very unfortunate that NHM Employees have been forced to take this extreme step. It is only because of inordinate delay, callous attitude, insensitivity and non serious behaviour shown by the Government towards framing the policy of regularization of All NHM Employees viz Doctors, Paramedical, & Management Personals who are serving tirelessly this trouble torn state of Jammu and Kashmir”, he further said.
