Dr. Pandita stated that NIA provides Rs. 50 lakh COVID-19 insurance cover to all healthcare workers across grades including ASHA workers, paramedics and nurses, who may be in direct contact and care of COVID-19 patients. This insurance scheme, launched by Union Finance Minister, is being funded through health ministry’s National Disaster Response Force ( NDRF ) budget, under which about 75 claims have been lodged so far with NIA.

Team of NIA headed by Dr. Pandita along with NDRF and Jammu and Kashmir government are closely engaged, as a matter of their responsibility, in expeditious settlement of insurance claims under this scheme.
