Night chill continues across Kashmir Valley, temperatures fluctuate

Minimum temperatures across Kashmir showed minor fluctuations on Monday, with several areas recording a slight drop compared to the previous night, while Jammu region remained largely stable, officials said.

In the Kashmir Valley, Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of 1.9°C, marginally lower than 2.0°C recorded a day earlier.

Qazigund saw a sharp dip to 2.2°C from 0.8°C, while Pahalgam remained nearly steady at 2.2°C, compared to 2.4°C yesterday.

Kupwara registered 1.6°C, up from 1.2°C, whereas Kokernag recorded 2.4°C, significantly higher than 0.8°C the previous night. Gulmarg, the ski resort, saw a slight fall to 1.0°C from 1.4°C.

Pulwama emerged as the coldest place in the Valley, recording minus 2.7°C yesterday, while data for today was unavailable.

Awantipora recorded minus 0.8°C, down from minus 0.2°C the previous night.

Shopian also dipped to minus 0.1°C compared to 0.1°C yesterday.

In the Jammu region, temperatures remained mostly stable. Jammu city recorded 11.4°C, unchanged from the previous day.

Banihal saw a decline to 3.1°C from 5.5°C, while Batote recorded 8.3°C, slightly higher than 7.9°C yesterday. Katra remained steady at around 11°C.

In Ladakh, Leh recorded minus 1.8°C, warmer than minus 5.0°C the previous night, while Kargil improved to minus 1.2°C from minus 4.6°C.

Meteorological officials said night temperatures are expected to fluctuate marginally over the next few days, with no major weather system affecting the region at present.(KNS).
