Bandipora, December 11 : Former legislator Nizam-ud-din Bhat On Sunday expressed deep concern over the lack of basic amenities to the people living in several localities of Bandipora town.
Bhat visited Lankreshipora and adjoining localities of Bandipora and interacted with people at several places to listen to their grievances and take first hand appraisal of the issues being faced by them.
The former legislator and Former Vice Chairperson Wakf Board said the inner links of Lankreshipora locality are in dilapidated conditions despite the locality being only few miles away from district headquarters and having tourism importance. He said the village is a gateway to Wullar and hosts maximum tourists who intend to sail into Wullar.
Bhat said besides giving tough time to the local residents, the ugly dumpy roads dull of potholes present a bad image of the district to the visitors.
The former legislator also rued the lack of electricity in these villages and expressed surprise over the whooping electricity bills being received by the poor residents despite electricity hardly finding it’s way to the village. Bhat said whooping electric bills are a huge burden on consumers who live below poverty line that too despite very erratic power supply.
Nizam-ud-din Bhat appealed administration  to ensure that Municipal Council, PHE ,PDD and R&B take stock of immediate problems for early redressal.
