The Friday prayers were once again barred for the 30th consecutive week since August 6, 2021, this year at Srinagar’s Grand Mosque.Expressing deep resentment, Anjuman Auqaf conveyed that it is the 30th consecutive Friday & the last ten days of the holy month of Mehraj-Ul-Alam, the Ascension of the Prophet (SAW), but the authorities are not still allowing the muslims to perform their important religious duties like Friday prayers at the largest place of worship in Jammu & Kashmir–the historic central Jama Masjid Srinagar.
The Anjuman Auqaf Jama Masjid also termed this approach of administration as extremely regrettable while saying that on the one hand such acts constantly hurt the religious sentiments of Muslims populace & on the other it is equal to sheer interference in the religious affairs. The Anjuman Auqaf has appealed to the influential religious organisations, Ulemas, Mashaikhs and Imams to raise their voice against the attitude of the authorities towards Jama Masjid.Besides the Anjuman also hoped that Mirwaiz would be released on the occasion of Mehraj-Ul-Alam so that he can directly convey the universal message of of Me’raj-un-Nabi (SAW) through his sermon in the centuries-old-traditional style of the Mirwaizeen to the people of Kashmir.
