Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday claimed to have cracked the murder case of a woman who was found dead in an orchard in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Thursday.
Giving details, a senior police official said that they arrested the accused, a resident of Naidkhai Sumbal in Bandipora district with the help of CCTV footage.
He said the woman after going missing from District Hospital Baramulla where she was accompanying her sick mother was found in a pool of blood in the orchards at Jahama Baramulla on Thursday night.
“The accused, identified as Gulzar Ahmad, was nabbed with the help of CCTV footage obtained from Baramulla hospital. He has confessed to his crime and stated that he murdered the woman after raping her in the orchard,” said the official.
The slain woman, a mother of seven children – was a resident of Khaietangan Rafiabad.
