An auto-rickshaw driver was allegedly beaten to pulp by army in Ajas area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Monday after he tried to overtake an army vehicle.
A source said that the driver, identified as Ajaz Ahmad Ganai, a resident of Gundpora Bandipora, received multiple injuries after he was beaten to pulp by the army personnel.
Ganai, according to the source, was shifted to a health centre in Ajas for treatment where from he was referred to JVC Hospital in Srinagar for specialized treatment.
Locals alleged that a youth who was capturing the incident on his phone was also beaten by the army soldiers.
However, a top police official of the district denied that any such incident took place.
