The principal Ancillary Medical Training (AMT) School has withdrawn the clause from the affidavit wherein students were required to give in writing that they won’t wear Abaya or cover their face during duty hours.

The clause from the affidavit, which the girl students were asked to sign, was withdrawn after a story on Monday titled ‘At nursing school, students asked to sign affidavit barring Abaya, covering of face.’

On Tuesday, the principal Razia Mahmood withdrew the clause, stating, “In connection with the subject in the form of affidavit as appearing in para no. 11 is hereby withdrawn and shall be treated as cancelled ab initio.”

The principal had asked each girl student to sign an affidavit which stated: “I will maintain the dress code as per the policy of the institution, I will maintain the code of ethics as per the policy of the institution, and I will not wear Abaya or cover my face during clinical postings.”

Miffed over the “dictatorial order”, the students had called for the revocation of the clause and were mulling to take a legal recourse for removal of the controversial clause from the affidavit.
