Srinagar, Aug 5: National Conference president and Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday reaffirmed his party’s commitment to restoring the rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, saying the party has neither forgotten nor reconciled with the developments of August 5, 2019.
Marking the seventh anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370, Omar Abdullah, in a post on social media, said, “Seven years, we haven’t forgotten & we haven’t reconciled, far less accepted our current circumstances. My party & I remain committed to reversing all that was done to J&K that took away our rights & threatens our identity.”
Quoting celebrated poet Robert Frost, he added, “The woods are lovely, dark and deep. But I have promises to keep. And miles to go before I sleep,” reiterating his resolve to continue pursuing the party’s political objectives concerning Jammu and Kashmir.
The remarks come as political parties across Jammu and Kashmir observed August 5 with programmes highlighting their respective positions on the constitutional changes introduced in 2019.
