One Pakistan player in the touring party for the upcoming tour of South Africa has tested positive for Covid-19, the PCB confirmed on March 17 (Wednesday). A total of 35 tests were conducted, with 34 of them returning negative results.
“Those who have tested negative will now assemble in Lahore on Thursday, 18 March, for the training camp, which will commence at the Gaddafi Stadium on Friday,” an official release stated.
The player who tested positive will now have to undergo another test on March 18 (Thursday) at his residence. Only if he returns a negative result, will he be able to travel to Lahore where he will have to undergo two more days of isolation before a third test.
The rest of the squad, meanwhile, will kickstart training from March 19 (Friday) and play two intra-squad 50-over games on March 20 and March 22, before leaving for South Africa on March 26. The limited-overs tour in South Africa begins with the three-match ODI series on April 2, followed by four T20Is from April 10.
