Srinagar, July 26: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah delivered a Special Address at the North Zone Regional Conference of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) held at SKICC, Srinagar, today. The event was graced by Hon’ble Justice Surya Kant, Executive Chairman of NALSA, Hon’ble Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal, and Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.

Speaking at the conference, Omar Abdullah underscored the collective responsibility to uphold justice and ensure effective legal aid for defence personnel and tribal communities—two foundational pillars of Indian society who, he noted, often encounter systemic barriers in accessing legal support.

He stressed the urgent need to build empathetic and accessible legal systems through strengthened legal aid clinics, mobile outreach platforms, and the training of community-based para-legal volunteers.

“Justice must not only be available; it must be truly accessible,” Abdullah stated, calling for inclusive reforms within the legal framework to better serve marginalized sections of society| Kashmir Pen
