Jammu, September 17: Intelligence agencies have cautioned that Pakistan is attempting to exploit protests sparked by the arrest of MLA Mehraj Malik in Doda to disturb peace and stability in Jammu and Kashmir.

Acting on these alerts, the Information Technology (IT) teams of the J&K government, in coordination with district administrations, have identified and blocked more than 300 social media accounts in the past three days. Police stations concerned have also been directed to register FIRs against those involved.

Authorities confirmed that compelling evidence was provided to social media platforms, establishing that these accounts were engaged in spreading deceptive propaganda aimed at fueling unrest and inciting rebellion against the administration.

According to police sources, the propaganda largely targeted residents of Doda, Kishtwar, and Ramban districts, urging them to protest Malik’s detention. Many of these accounts were found circulating old and misleading videos along with highly provocative content.

“The district administration has issued clear advisories to all digital platforms and handlers against sharing such inciting material. Content that threatens communal harmony or encourages violence will attract strict legal action. I appeal to the youth not to fall into this trap, as anti-national elements are conspiring to exploit them,” said Sandeep Mehta, SSP Doda | Kashmir Pen
