SRINAGAR, January 7: Sajjad Kichloo today attended the Standing Committee on Coal, Mines & Steel and raised key developmental concerns, focusing on employment generation and rural infrastructure.
During the meeting, Kichloo highlighted the long-pending issue of regularising the Paddar sapphire mines, stressing that formalisation would open avenues for jobs and sustainable livelihoods for local youth. He underscored the need to ensure that natural resources benefit the people of the region in a structured and transparent manner.
He also urged the revival of village-level steel depots to ensure the availability of affordable and quality steel in rural areas. Such a move, he said, would support housing, infrastructure development, and local economies.
Emphasising inclusive growth, Kichloo asserted that development initiatives must reach the last mile to make governance meaningful and people-centric | Kashmir Pen
