Next week’s ODI series between Pakistan and New Zealand will not be a part of the ongoing ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League, both the cricket boards announced.

The three ODIs, starting September 17 in Rawalpindi, will instead be a regular bilateral series owing to non-availability of the Decision Review System (DRS).

The two boards have also decided on when they will make up for the Super League’s fixtures. “As New Zealand will return to Pakistan in the 2022-23 season to play two Tests and three ODIs, the two boards have agreed that these 50-over matches will now count towards the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 qualification,” PCB said in a release.

The Super League is a 13-member league involving 12 Full Member nations along with Netherlands, and will decide which teams feature in the 2023 Cricket World Cup. Hosts India and the other top seven teams qualify automatically for the World Cup whereas the bottom five teams will need to play a qualifying tournament. Each team gets 10 points for a win, five for a tie/no result/ abandoned game, and zero for a defeat.
