SRINAGAR 20 Apr : Several Parliamentary Standing Committees (PSCs), including the panel on Home Affairs, are scheduled to visit Jammu and Kashmir from next month to assess the overall security and developmental scenario in the Union Territory.

Official sources said the visiting committees will interact with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, senior officials of the civil administration and police, besides various stakeholders, to take stock of the situation and submit their findings to Parliament.

The visit of the Home Affairs Committee, headed by BJP MP Radha Mohan Das Aggarwal, is being seen as significant as it will review key security aspects including counter-terror operations, border infiltration, and the prevailing law and order situation.

Other committees are expected to evaluate progress on development projects, implementation of centrally sponsored schemes, and issues related to Panchayati Raj institutions.

As per the tentative schedule, the Home Affairs panel will begin its tour from Katra on May 10, followed by visits to Srinagar, Gulmarg, and Sonmarg, where interactions with officials and on-ground assessments will be conducted. The panel will also visit Kargil to review border security and interact with Army representatives.
