Passenger Vehicle plunges into Nallah Sindh at Sonamarg; 3 persons rescued, 6 still missing

At least six persons have gone missing after a vehicle they were traveling in rolled down in Nallah Sindh at Gagangir Sonamarg area along Srinagar-Leh highway on Sunday.

An official told news agency GNS that a Tavera vehicle bearing registration number JK-13B 8950, on reaching Gagangir slipped and plunged into nallah Sindh flowing along the area.

“It primarily is believed that nine persons were on board the vehicle of which three have been rescued, while six others are still missing,” the official said.

“The police alongside Army’s 34 Assam Rifles, Traffic Rural Police, Civil administration, locals, SDRF and NDRF are jointly involved in a rescue operation to ensure safety of the missing persons,” the official said.
