As the All Jammu and Kashmir Patwar Association has started a four-day pen down strike across state from Wednesday, the members in Awantipora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district have urged government to fulfill their demands at the earliest.

In this connection, the basic members from four tehsils including Tral, Aripal, Awantipora and Pampore assembled at tehsil headquarter Awantipora to mark their protest against the non-fulfillment of their demands.

The demands as per the employees include removal of grade pay anomaly , timely conduct of DPC meetings, creation of GQ Circles and Patwar Halqas, ban on direct recruitment of Naib Tehsildar post, rent for Patwar Khana existing in private buildings, construction of Patwar Khanas and providing of meeting halls for Patwar associations in Jammu and Srinagar.

“All our demands are genuine, and the concerned authorities are already well aware of it. The government has time and again accepted our demands but is delaying their implementation,”Mehraj Ahmad Zarar, a basic member of Patwar Association told that if the genuine demands are not addressed, the association may prolong the strike call.

Meanwhile, the strike has affected the people across the four tehsils of Pulwama as Patwari is supposed to be an important tool of administration.

Locals have shown dissent against the strike and have called for timely redressal of the demands of Patwaris.
