Srinagar, June 02,: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti has written to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, BJP Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma, JKPCC President Tariq Hameed Karra, CPI(M) leader Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami, People’s Conference chairman Sajad Gani Lone, MP Engineer Rashid, AAP President Mehraj Malik, PDF chairman Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen, J&K National Panthers Party leader Harsh Dev Singh, Shiv Sena state president Manish Sahni, Kashmiri Pandit Sangharsh Samiti president Sanjay Tickoo, and Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee chairman Jaspal Singh, urging them to join a collective outreach to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
In her letter, a copy of which is in the possession of news agency, Mufti said the recent progress achieved by the Leh Apex Body and the Kargil Democratic Alliance through sustained engagement with the Centre demonstrates that dialogue can lead to meaningful outcomes. She observed that Jammu and Kashmir is once again at a critical juncture, with widespread feelings of despair and disillusionment prevailing across the region.
Advocating for a broad-based consensus that rises above political and partisan considerations, Mufti stressed that restoring the dignity, security, and constitutional rights of the people requires constructive engagement with the Union Government. She called upon political, social, and community leaders to set aside differences and work collectively in the larger public interest.
“The time has come to make a united outreach to the Hon’ble Prime Minister and Hon’ble Home Minister and impress upon them the need for a sustained dialogue with the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” she wrote.
Mufti emphasized that the initiative should not be viewed through the prism of political credit or partisan gain, but rather as an opportunity for collective action aimed at addressing the concerns of the people. She appealed to leaders across the political spectrum to unite in pursuit of a dignified and lasting framework within the Union of India that safeguards the rights and aspirations guaranteed under the Constitution.
