Srinagar, Oct 07 : National Conference chief Dr. Farooq Abdullah stated that he will accept the support of the PDP to address the issues in J&K.

Speaking to media persons, he also emphasized that the right to nominate five MLAs belongs to the elected government and requires approval from the Lieutenant Governor.

Dr. Farooq welcomed PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti’s support for the NC-Congress alliance. “I will accept PDP’s support sincerely. I commend the parties for collaborating to improve J&K,” he said.

Dr. Farooq highlighted the need for unity to address the challenges J&K has faced since August 5, 2019. When asked if other parties were approaching the NC, he noted that many had already expressed support. Regarding challenges after forming a government, he mentioned that the downgrading of J&K from a State to a Union Territory poses significant issues. He expressed hope that the central government recognizes the importance of J&K, given its geopolitical situation.

On the nomination of five MLAs by LG Manoj Sinha, Dr. Farooq asserted that only the elected government should make such decisions. “We want qualified individuals in the Assembly. The LG must approve what the elected government recommends,” he said..
