Impose strict lockdown in Kashmir or lift it completely: BJP to admin
Srinagar, May 05 : BJP’s Kashmir Unit on Wednesday said people of Kashmir are confused about implementation of lockdown because it is not applicable on ground. They urged the administration either to impose strict lockdown in valley or lift restrictions completely as Srinagar administration has failed to contain the virus at all ends.
Party’s Kashmir Media In-charge and youth leader Manzoor Bhat in a statement issued to media said that it is unfortunate that despite lockdown, heavy traffic jams were witnessed in Srinagar city and it shows how city administration has failed all ends to curb the Covid19 infections.
“People are confused about lockdown, nor administration is doing anything to implement it on the ground and police has also become mute spectator on the issue
He urged LG administration, either to impose a strict lockdown or lift all the restrictions in Kashmir. Passenger vehicles are openly violating the Covid19 guidelines and while lockdown has been only restricted to the closing of shops.
“Our worthy DC Srinagar is not capable of imposing lockdown, he should learn from his predecessor. Lockdown is restricted for traders and shopkeepers, why public and private vehicles are plying openly,” he questioned.
Bhat said there should be some result of imposing the lockdown; otherwise, it is just a routine exercise as cases are increasing each passing day.
“On the one side, there is a strict lockdown on papers and on side same administration is proving curfew passes for public transport vehicles,” he said.
Both police and administration should look into this issue and otherwise lift restrictions from all quarters.
Bhat said the party had recently announced grievance helpline numbers for distressed people and they are trying their best to reach out to them through various means including oxygen cylinders, medicine, and other things.
“At some places, we need some help from the local administration and it is unfortunate that DC Srinagar is not responding to several phone calls from the BJP office. The calls were not meant to gain personal favor but were made for public work,” he said.
He urged police to keep a check on Covid19 violations and urged them to work effectively.
Bhat appealed LG Manoj Sinha and Divisional Commissioner Kashmir PK Pole to look into the issue and so that lockdown may yield some good results for the benefit of common people.
