Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) General Secretary and former MLC, Vibodh Gupta on Friday questioned the “dormancy” of PAGD leaders during the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic.
“When Bharatiya Janata Party workers in the valley were doing several relief works, Gupkar (a reference to PAGD’s Gupkar declaration) leaders remained dormant from public service during once in a century pandemic and met after six months only for political gains,” said Gupta during a press conference in Srinagar.
“People of the valley will never forget and forgive the misconduct and absence of these leaders during the challenging times”, added Gupta.
The BJP leader said he was “saddened by the zero contribution of PAGD during COVID-19 but not surprised”. “We have repeatedly asserted it (PAGD) as an alliance of opportunist leaders and the same is palpable by their conduct,” he added.
Gupta further claimed that “separatism and stone-pelting has completely been wiped out from the valley which has brought peace to the people”. “Peace, development and progress in the union territory of J&K is the government’s top priority, ” he said.
