Jammu Police on Monday that they arrested a man associated with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militant organisation and seized two grenades from him.
They added that on Sunday, a naka was laid by Jammu Police at NHW bypass road for a routine checking of vehicles. Late in the evening at around 7:30 pm, the man, who had been roaming around suspiciously, tried to flee after seeing the police personnel.
The government forces apprehended him and recovered two hand grenades from his bag during the search.
He has been identified as Mohammad Ashraf. A case has been registered against him.
According to the input, Mohammad Ashraf is linked with LeT and was tasked by the handlers from across the border to carry out blasts in the city.
Police claimed that it is the second militant module linked with LeT which has been busted by the Jammu Police in the past one week.
A similar module was busted earlier in which two persons were arrested with one AK series rifle, one pistol, two magazines of AK rifle, 60 rounds of AK rifle and 15 rounds of pistol.
Three days ago government forces have arrested a militant associate and seized a hand grenade from his possession in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir.
During the search, a Chinese-made hand grenade, concealed in a plastic jar, was seized from the premises.
