Police recovers abducted girl, arrests accused within 48 hours

Police said it traced a kidnapped girl and arrested the accused person involved in the crime within 48 hours.

On 15 December2020, Police Station Tarzoo received a complaint from an individual (name withheld) resident of Hugam that his 17-year-old daughter (name withheld) has been kidnapped by one person namely Lateef Ahmad Dar S/O Ghulam Mohammad Dar R/O Hanjipora, Hygam, a police spokesperson said in a statement issued.

Accordingly, a case FIR No 119/20 U/S 363 IPC was registered in PS Tarzoo and the investigation was taken up, he said, adding that a special team headed by SHO Police Station Tarzoo was formed and raids were conducted at multiple places.

Based on a specific lead, the kidnapped girl was recovered from Hajin Bandipora area within 48 hours, police said, adding that the accused (kidnapper) was also arrested.

After completing the medico-legal formalities, the girl was handed over to legal heirs, police said.

“The swift action of police was hailed by the family and relatives of the girl, who expressed their satisfaction the way Sopore Police handled the case,” the statement said.
