Police take action against unregistered homestays, guest houses in Humhama

Budgam Police Police, in collaboration with Tourist Police Station Srinagar, on Thursday conducted a verification and checking drive of homestays and guest houses in the Humhama area.

A Police spokesperson said, During the inspection, the homestays and guest houses that were found operating without valid registration are Cozy Heaven, Sheikhpora, near Armed Complex, Haji Guest House, Humhama, near Airport, Sukoonat Gah, ARCO Residency, Humhama, Welcome Homestay, Humhama, near Airport, Zabeel Villa, ARCO Residency, Humhama and Homestay by Ishaan, ARCO Residency.

Preventive action under Sections 126/170 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS)—2023 was initiated against the owners of all six properties. Additionally, fines were imposed on Haji Guest House and Welcome Homestay, which were found operating without the mandatory registration.

Budgam Police have urged all owners of homestays and guest houses to ensure compliance with applicable laws and to obtain the requisite registration from the competent authorities to avoid legal action.
