Power crisis in Sheeri, residents register protest

Residents of Sheeri area in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district registered their protest to highlight power crisis in the area since past two weeks.

Reports said that scores of residents hit the streets and blocked Baramulla-Muzaffarabad road to protest against power development department.

Locals while alleged PDD department said that authorities hardly bother about our crisis as it has been weeks we people are facing power crisis.

The protesting residents said that they had approached concern department in this regard but nothing happened on ground but only adds to their sufferings.

They said that department forced us to hit the streets, they however added that if their demand will not be redressed at earliest they will go for bigger protest.

Meanwhile an official at power development department (PDD) told over phone that no doubt people are facing power crisis but they are responsible themselves for this as they are going for extra usage in terms of boilers , heaters etc.

The official however appealed people not to use electricity illegally.
