Womenfolk insecure?
Young Bollywood star Zaira Wasim being molested in an aircraft is a shame! The incident has evoked widespread condemnation from all sections of the society.
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti took a serious note of the incident and sought the intervention of the civil aviation minister and the other concerned authorities.
One needs to give all the credit to Zaira for not remaining silent and raising her voice. The culprit who misbehaved with her should be identified and booked so that it serves as a deterrent and the miscreants refrain from indulging in such acts.
Zaira facing harassment in an aircraft has once again proved that women are not safe in India. The need of the hour is to frame stringent laws to prevent the girls from facing such situations. In the recent past courts have acted tough against the rapist and the convicts have got life sentences as well as death penalty.
Until stringent laws are not put at place people with sadistic mindset would keep on getting away even after committing heinous crimes. No sane society can tolerate the crimes against their women folk. The civil society and the government needs to act to save the honour and chastity of their daughters, sisters and mothers.
Zaira needs the support of everyone. She has proved that she is brave and such incidents won’t break her resolve to fight evil elements in our society. These evil elements need to be taught a lesson so that they don’t dare to harass the women folk and remain within their limits. Women should feel safe and secure rather than feeling insecure and weak. Many women like Zaira face harassment day in and out, but unfortunately such incidents go unreported.
