The Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI), Jammu and Kashmir Chapter, under the leadership of its chairman, held a crucial meeting today with the Director of Tourism, Kashmir. The meeting was attended by the heads of prominent travel and tourism associations of Jammu and Kashmir to discuss preparedness for the predicted snowfall in Kashmir starting January 1.
During the meeting, it was emphasized that the Department of Tourism must take proactive steps to ensure the smooth movement of tourists during heavy snowfall. Key suggestions included:
1. Dedicated Helpline: Establishing a helpline to assist tourists in case they face any challenges or get stuck due to snowfall.
2. Refreshments for Tourists: Providing refreshments and full assistance to tourists stranded due to traffic jams or snow blockages to make them feel attended and cared for.
3. Snow Clearing Machinery: Ensuring that snow-clearing machines are on standby at all major tourist destinations to keep roads accessible.
4. Full Assistance: Guaranteeing that tourists do not feel abandoned and are provided with adequate support to enjoy their visit to Kashmir.
The associations highlighted the need for seamless coordination to ensure that tourists feel welcomed and safe, even during adverse weather conditions.
The meeting was attended by several esteemed representatives, including Mr. Nasir Shah, Chairman, IATO J&K Chapter; Mr. Noor Muhammad Shangloo, Chairman, JKTA and Mr. Muhamad Akram Khan Siah, representing TTIG.
The Director Tourism Kashmir assured all present that the Department of Tourism is committed to providing full support to tourists and ensuring their experience in Kashmir remains pleasant, even amidst challenging weather.
