Srinagar, October 2024: The International Film Festival of Kashmir (IFFK), one of the oldest and most prestigious film festivals in the region, is preparing for its highly anticipated 7th edition. Since its inception in 2006, the festival has established itself as a leading platform for showcasing diverse cinematic talent from around the world, with its 2014 edition making a significant mark by receiving over 1,000 entries from more than 70 countries and screening 44 films in Srinagar. With over 10 world premieres, the 2014 event set records yet to be surpassed by any other film festival in Jammu and Kashmir.
The 7th edition of the International Film Festival of Kashmir will soon open its call for entries, inviting filmmakers from across the globe to submit their works. The festival accepts submissions in Urdu, Hindi, English, Kashmiri, Dogri, Pahari, and Gojri, or any language as long as the films are subtitled in English. Filmmakers can submit their short films, feature films, or documentaries that have been produced after 1st March 2023.
The IFFK continues to celebrate and promote the region’s vibrant cultural heritage while providing a global platform for emerging and established filmmakers. In keeping with the festival’s tradition of honoring outstanding cinematic works, filmmakers are encouraged to participate and showcase their creativity to a diverse and international audience.
The detailed rules, regulations, and selection committee members will be announced shortly along with the official opening date for submissions.
