The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad Thursday said presuming the ongoing Omicron variant as mild could be a “big mistake”.The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad Thursday said presuming the ongoing Omicron variant as mild could be a “big mistake”.

The Deputy Commissioner Srinagar was speaking to media reporters here, saying “It could be a big mistake if people presume Omicron variant as mild one”.

He said during second wave of the pandemic Srinagar witnessed 1300 cases highest in the day however in the on going third wave the positive cases in the district has crossed 1700 figure.

He said the Covid19 put forth multiple variants to the world who acted differently in parts of globe so people should not lower their guard against it.

The DC added people are trying to become medical experts while going through Covid19 literature available on the internet which is not a good thing.

He also added the transmission of the ongoing variant is “very high” as J&K has witnessed massive surge in positive cases from last few days.
