Srinagar, January 26, 2025: Prof. Farooq Fayaz, a distinguished historian, scholar and author has been granted the prestigious State Award in the Category of Literature on the eve of Republic Day, 2025. The award contains a Citation and a cash prize of Rs 51,000. This recognition is a testament to his invaluable contributions to the academic and literary landscape of Jammu and Kashmir.
Born on April 16, 1954, in the historic locality of Sathu Barbarshah, Srinagar, Prof. Farooq Fayaz has devoted his life to the study, preservation, and chronicling of Kashmir’s rich cultural heritage. His educational journey began locally, culminating in a Ph.D in History, which laid the foundation for his prolific academic career.
Over the decades, Prof. Fayaz has made significant strides in historical research, literary contributions, and cultural advocacy.
