AWANTIPORA, SEPTEMBER 21: Prof. Shakil A. Romshoo, Vice Chancellor of the Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), has once again been featured in the prestigious Top 2% Global Scientists List compiled by Stanford University for the year 2025. This marks the sixth consecutive year that Prof. Romshoo has earned this distinction.
An internationally acclaimed scientist, Prof. Romshoo is widely recognized for his expertise in hydrology, glaciology, and climate science. Over the years, he has received several national and international honors and is an elected fellow of the Indian Academy of Sciences, the Indian Society of Remote Sensing, and the Indian Society of Geomatics.
Adding to this achievement, several other IUST faculty members have also been included in this year’s list, underscoring the university’s expanding research profile. Those recognized include Prof. Shakeel Ahmad from the Centre for Disaster Risk Reduction, Dr. Basharat Nabi Dar from the Department of Food Technology, Dr. Manzoor Ahmad Rather from the Department of Chemistry, Dr. Muzaffar Ahmad Macha from the Watson and Crick Centre for Molecular Medicine, and Dr. Shakeel Ahmad Khanday from the Department of Physics.
In his congratulatory message, Prof. Romshoo highlighted that IUST’s sustained efforts to strengthen its research ecosystem are now producing tangible outcomes. He emphasized that the university is steadily transitioning into a research-intensive institution engaged in high-impact work across critical areas of science and technology.
He further remarked that the recognition of IUST researchers in such a globally acknowledged list is a testament to the quality, relevance, and increasing citation impact of the university’s scholarly contributions.
