Ganderbal, Dec 06 : The administrative matters in this central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district have taken a hit as the heads of several departments have been assigned additional charges while many are headless for a long time.
Horticulture is one of the most affected departments in the district, with the Chief Horticulture Officer having an additional charge.
This has badly affected the horticulture sector which is the backbone of J&K’s economy and the main source of livelihood for hundreds of families in the district.
Another vital department is Municipal Council. Its Chief Executive Officer is also having an additional charge; therefore, sanitation and other important issues coming under the municipal limits remain affected.
The officers having additional charges in Ganderbal include Chief Education Officer, District Social Welfare Officer, Deputy Registrar Cooperative, Chinar Development Officer, and District Tribal Officer.
Moreover, many government departments are without HODs and the posts are vacant.
The headless departments include Rural Development Department, Block Development Office Gund, Sherpathri, and Safapora wand Sainik School Manasbal which is functioning without a Principal.
The posts of Block Medical Officer Ganderbal and Tehsildar Tulla Mulla are also lying vacant for months.
Locals while talking to the news agency— said they are suffering as many of their grievances related to several issues remain unresolved. They said many departments are resorting to dilly-dallying tactics when it comes to resolving their local issues.
They have urged the Lieutenant Governor to look into the matter so that the common people do not continue to face difficulties in getting their issues resolved
