Police station Rajpora Pulwama received information with regard to roaming of a gang of dacoits in the area during night time who faked themselves to be gunmen and extorted valuables on the toy gun point from the inmates of targetted houses.
Accordingly Police laid ambushes and traps to nail down the culprits. Finally one culprit namely Aamir Majeed Mir S/O Ab Majeed Mir R/ O Rajpora Pulwama was caught red handed at Hanjin Balla while executing his criminal act. On apprehension one toy pistol was recovered from his possession and some extorted jewellery items.
He disclosed to interrogating team that he alongwith other two persons namely Aamir Ali Chopan S/O Ali Mohd Chopan R/O Rajpora and Umar Rasheed S/O Ab Rasheed Dar R/O Rajpora, were involved in the theft and extortion incidents which had taken place recently in the Rajpora area. On further disclosure he disclosed the name of one goldsmith namely Altaf Ahmad Naikoo S/O Mohd Yousuf from Meemander Shopian who used to receive stolen jewellery. Police arrested all of them and recovered following items from their possession:
- 08 numbers of Golden Rings
- One number of plain golden chain
- One number of golden chain with beeds.
- Two numbers of golden pounds
- Two numbers of golden ear rings
- One number of golden necklace
- One toy Pistol
To this effect cases under FIR Numbers 185/2021 U/S 457, 383, 506 IPC and 7/27 IA Act, 294/2021 U/S 382, 457, 506, 223 and 342 IPC and 212/2021 U/S 457, 392, 506 IPC, have been lodged at Police Station Rajpora and investigation taken up.
One stolen load carrier bearing registration number JK 03A/2171, has also been recovered in case FIR Number 205/2021 U/S 379 IPC.
All the accused in these cases have been arrested and kept on remand for further questioning.
