Srinagar, Sept 4: Jammu and Kashmir is likely to witness spells of light to moderate rain and thundershowers at many places on Friday, with brief intense showers expected at some locations, particularly during the afternoon and late night to early morning hours, according to the Meteorological Centre Srinagar.
The weather department said another moderate spell, accompanied by brief intense to heavy showers, is likely towards the late night and early morning hours, mainly over the Jammu division.
The Meteorological Centre has cautioned that brief but intense showers in localised areas could trigger flash floods, mudslides and landslides during September 4, particularly in vulnerable areas.
From September 5 to 10, weather is expected to remain generally dry across Jammu and Kashmir, although brief spells of rain or thundershowers may occur at isolated places.
The forecast indicates another period of unsettled weather from September 11 to 15, when brief spells of rain and thundershowers are likely at scattered places, along with occasional intense showers.
The weather department has advised people in vulnerable areas to remain cautious during intense rainfall spells. Farmers, meanwhile, may continue harvesting and other agricultural operations, subject to local weather conditions.
