Srinagar, Mar 29 : Expressing gratitude to the Omar Abdullah-led government, National Conference MLA from Lal Chowk, Ahsan Pardesi, on Sunday hailed the administration’s decision to sanction the long-pending Rajbagh-Sangarmal flyover, calling it a “testimony to the power of raising public issues in the Assembly.”
The flyover, which has been a major demand of the area, was consistently raised by Pardesi during House sessions, reflecting the growing public concern over traffic congestion in the city’s core areas.
“Under the able leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Chaudhary, the government assured to take up the matter on priority.
Today, that assurance has translated into concrete action on the ground,” the MLA said.
The sanctioned flyover, he added, would significantly ease traffic snarls, especially around the busy Zero Bridge and its adjoining areas. The project is expected to improve connectivity, cut travel time, and provide much-needed relief to daily commuters in the summer capital.
MLA Pardesi termed the development a “moment of satisfaction” for the people of his constituency, adding that the voice raised in the legislature has now taken the shape of a public works project on ground. (KNS)
